Pool flood damage
Pool flood damage can manifest itself in many ways.
Pool flood damage can include structural damage that be anything from internal finish staining right through to shell reconstruction or replacement.
WARNING: DO NOT EMPTY AN IN-GROUND POOL WHILE GROUND IS SODDEN UNLESS YOU FIRST REFER IT TO A POOL EXPERT OR ENGINEER
If heavy rain or flooding has damaged your swimming pool, an engineer may be required to inspect the sub-surface integrity of the structural shell,
whether it be fibreglass or concrete.
MUDDY WATER in POOL
Do not try to operate pool equipment until inspected by a certified electrician
Do not immerse in pool until water is clear and disinfection and pH have been adjusted to normal concentrations
Remove any large debris and partly vacuum pool to waste to lower pool level to below coping pavers
Consult your pool service provider if you need help to perform any of these procedures
Then;
Fully vacuum the pool to waste to remove the sludge from floor
Add chlorine (approx. 20litres of liquid or 3kg of calcium hypochlorite per 30,000 litres) disinfectant
Maintain a chlorine concentration in pool to control mosquitos and bacteria etc.
Allow pool to sit overnight and slowly vacuum to waste again
Disperse a floculent (encourages the colodial material to form larger particles) following directions on the packaging
Operate the pump and filter continuously
Add acid and disinfectant (add salt as required for salt pools) to obtain pH reading of 7.2 to 7.6 & Chlorine to 3.0ppm
Brush internal surfaces frequently
Back-wash and rinse sand filters or clean cartridge filters, frequently as required
Keep topping up pool water as required to prevent “dry running” of pump
When pool is clean and clear;
Inspect coping, surrounds and internal surfaces for any damage
Consult pool service provider to adjust pool water balance (corrosive or scaling)
